1. Light = a form of radiant energy that we can see
2. Photon = a tiny bundle of energy by which light travels
3. Transmission = the passing along of light energy
(light doesn't need a medium to travel through - remember sound did need a medium to travel through)
4. Reflection = the bouncing of a light wave off a surface
5. Refraction = the bending of waves as they pass from one substance to another
6. Transparent = letting all light through, so objects on the other side can be seen clearly
7. Translucent = letting some light pass through, so objects on the other side seem fuzzy/unclear
8. Opaque = blocking all light waves (you cannot see through the substance at all)
9. Prism = a transparent solid, often having a triangular base, used for dispersing light into a spectrum or for reflecting waves of light
10. Spectrum = a band of colors produced when light goes through a prism
