Sound Vocabulary |
1. Sound = a form of energy caused by something vibrating
2. Vibrations = a back-and-forth movement of matter
3. Medium = a substance through which a sound wave travels
4. Transmission = the passing along of light, sound, or heat energy
5. Absorption = the transfer of energy when a wave disappears into a surface
6. Reflection = the bouncing of a wave off a surface
7. Echo = a reflected sound wave
8. Frequency = the number of times an object vibrates per second
9. Pitch = how high or low a sound is
10. Volume = the loudness of a sound (depends on amplitude and is measured in decibels)
